Before travel

Please note the following useful information in terms of planning your trip with LP-Mototour:

Laos has three distinct seasons, which will affect the date of your departure for your motorbike adventure:

  • March - May: This is the reasonably short hot season where temperatures reach 40C and more.
  • May - October: This is primarily the rainy season and even if the climate is milder, showers are frequent especially in July and August.
  • November - March: This period is normally the dry season with the least amount of rain and the lowest temperatures (normally, around 30C) and is therefore, in our view the best time to arrange your bike tour with us in Laos.
Visa & Driving License

For Suisse nationals

Swiss nationals do not need a visa for a stay not exceeding 15 days. For those planning on staying longer, a compulsory visa is required at a cost of 50 CHF. It is possible to obtain longer-stay visas at major airports such as Luang Prabang with just your passport with no need for prior-notification of your later travel dates.

We would strongly advise you apply for an International Driving License. Requests can be made through the motor vehicle division in your canton.

For all other nationals

All other passport holders must obtain a 30 or 60 day Tourist Visa to enter the Country. This can either be done prior to travel from the Laos Consulate or at major airports such as Luang Prabang, on arrival in the Country.
